I’m not even sure where I should start because this post has been on my mind for 2 weeks and now I’m finally putting pen to paper. So many have asked ” HOW WAS TULUM” and to be honest I don’t even know where to start because no matter what I say its hard to explain how unbelievable, amazing, surreal and surprising this little Island was. So to make it easier I thought I would break this down into two parts: Our Stay and Our Days which means the stay is solely focused on the beautiful property we stayed at and I have included the contact for the beautiful Villa since so many of you asked. It’s a great option to consider if you are looking to have a totally unique experience. The second half is focused on Our Days which will break down everything about Tulum and how amazing this little place really is. SO LET’S GET STARTED.
MAHAYANA TULUM BEACH HOUSES
Mahayana Tulum Beach houses – No matter how many times I say this, its not enough! The villas were absolutely stunning and our trip would not be the same if it wasn’t for our stay. Many wanted to know if this was a sponsored trip and my answer to that is YES AND NO. Yes because I was blessed to work with the Villas for a 3 night sponsorship and enjoy all the amazing features about the villas as they host a lot of weddings, bachelorettes and couples and NO because we paid for everything else in the city including our flights, foods and activities.
Cost – Prices wise this place was much cheaper than all inclusive. Our Villa cost is an average of $695 per night USD convert that into CDN is about $860?per night. There were 6 of us and we split that it cost us about $433.50 for 3 nights! That’s not bad at all for a beautiful 3 bedroom Villa and an even better experience!
Mahayana Beach Houses are located on the main strip of Tulum, when I say main strip it means that the location is PERFECTO, close to the hottest restos, bars and nightclubs and its literally on THE BEACH. Which means the ocean was our backyard, If you stepped out of the balcony and walked out of your kitchen your feet will end up in the beautiful blue waters of the ocean, To be honest that was my favorite part! Mahayana has 4 Villas to accommodate different sizes and we stayed at one the biggest ones with 3 rooms and 3 floors including a terrace, a patio and another level with had two bedrooms. There was a group of girls staying at the villa right next to us celebrating their 40th and that villa had a beautiful pool. My sister went this year as well as you can see here and stayed at a one bedroom villa. All the villas have the same open concept vibe with the beach being at your footsteps.
The villas also has a butler service which is not expensive at all! You will get two cooks that will come make you breakfast, lunch and Dinner! We did this for our Bride for her main night and enjoyed a delicious breakfast on our patio. Breakfast was served alongside local fruits, granola & yogurt, eggs, toast and more. The breakfast was absolutely worth it! Both the cooks were wonderful, so pleasant and kind. They brought all the ingredients with them, cooked in the kitchen and also cleaned up once we were done. I’ve never had an experience like this before so it really meant a lot to be able to share this with my best friends. I also found this service extremely helpful for families contemplating Tulum as a family getaway. Since Tulum is not an all-inclusive kind of place and buying food can get expensive getting the butler service for the week is extremely affordable and a very personable experience. We hope to do this with my kids and hubby when we come back. The best part was that we woke up and came down in our PJ’s and sat on the patio table outside while being served and totally felt like a vacation well deserved.
The villa included maid service on a daily basis that would come clean up the place. Consider it your own home while being on vacation and not having to do ANYTHING AT ALL. Some places don’t offer this kinf od service which means that if you stay anywhere that is not a hotel you are responsible for your own cleaning, well not here!
I’ve done the hotel thing and shared rooms with besties etc but this was completely different! We all stayed in one Villa which means we stayed in one bed chatting away most of the time, got ready in each other’s bathrooms and spent so much quality time together which would not be the same in a hotel. We had so much space for ourselves too, for example there was 6 of us we all had our own bed, yet of course we made pairs and slept together lol, we had 3 bathrooms split between two floor which meant there was more than enough space to get ready, we had a full kitchen and even whipped up eggs one night after the club hahahaha, we had the ocean in our backyard and we had the hottest restaurant literally right beside us, not to mention we have Cheveli who is this beautiful girl who manages the property and came by to see us every day to see how we were doing. Everything was so fab and so amazing. Seriously guys I can’t say enough great things about this place. If you are thinking of a bachelorette, a wedding, a family vacation or even a couples vacation I have listed down the contact below. Email Snow she will take care of everything!

Why I fell in love with Tulum…
Tulum is located approx 2 hours from Cancun which means you land into Cancun and you take a transfer over to Tulum. I suggest booking this in advance. If you stay at the Villa, Snow will hook you up! Meaning she will be more than happy to send you to the right contact and book something that’s fair priced. We paid approx 140 Dollars for our transfer. BOOK THIS IS ADVANCE!
So Tulum was a complete shock to me. I was expecting to land in to a town filled with resorts and the usual scene, although looking at Instagram photos helped so I knew it was beautiful but photos can’t explain the vibe! Imagine a small town filled with romantic and sexy restaurants that serve fresh and local produce every day, you walk by and you see large harvest tables in almost every restaurant with oven fires, baskets of fresh vegetables and string lights in each corner. The smell of incents and sexiness fills the air! Literally! The city is filled with vegan eats, smoothie bowls, yoga practices in each corner and everyone walking around looked peaceful and healthy. To the point that I’m back and I have completely adopted or trying to adopt the same lifestyle hahaha. NO JOKE lol.
Tulum has a main strip which means you don’t have to go far, as soon as you walk on the main road you will find majority of them all there. So imagine a cross between Miami and Island Life; meaning the restaurants looked absolutely stunning and everyone goes out to eat because there are no all inclusive resorts. The food is fresh, locally produced and tons of seafood. Here are a few suggestions: La Zebra, Hartwood, Gitano, Be Tulum, Cenzotle, Raw Love.
There’s a hot party every night. Unfortunately we only made it to one which was beautiful. Gitano was the name. Its super sexy, music is mostly EDM but the place is popping! Its usually good on Friday nights. Most popular place is the I-SCREAM BAR. Always live and it plays all the hottest songs! Drake, Riri, Beiber and anything you request. They chant I-SCREAM BAR every time someone walks by, its the loudest place on the strip after 10pm so you can’t miss it.
So if you don’t take a yoga class while you are there you are missing out! We did one facing the ocean with an amazing instructor and I think it was the highlight of my trip. I felt so rejuvenated and so alive. Here are a few places: Amansala Hotel, Sanara, you can also find more as you walk down the strip. Cost is anywhere between $15 to $20 per class.
HAVE TO TRY
- Smoothie/Acai Bowl at Raw Love
- Rent a Bike – Cost is $11 bucks for 24 hours and go ride with your friends or partner down to town and the beaches
- Yoga Class – Tons of them , pick one preferably by the ocean
- Guacamole at La Zebra Restaurant
- Walk down Tulum Beach
- Go to Gitano for a night out – Club
- Try Hartwood for Dinner, unfortunately we couldn’t, every time we went it was booked up!
Hope you all love Tulum and if you need anything else just shoot me a DM on Insta at @hudaalvi
